Summary

Anyone wishing to be employed as a security guard has to be in possession of a licence issued to them by the Security Industry Authority (SIA).

Details

One of the eligibility criteria for licence applicants is that they must hold a relevant and accredited qualification. The new BIIAB NCSG meets this criterion.

The Ofqual accredited qualification comprises of two units:

Unit 1 Roles and Responsibilities of Security Guards (20 hours)

Unit 2 Conflict Management for Security Guards (10 hours)

Each unit has a 40 multiple choice question examination, with 80 minutes allowed for each.

We run the National Certificate for Security Guards course regularly at our training centres in Edinburgh and Midlothian.  See our course dates page for details of our next course.

Candidates may do parts 1 and 2  of the course in any order they wish.

The NCDSS course fee per person is £200 inclusive of examination fees and course materials.
