Security Training Services 

The Security Industry Authority (SIA) is the government body responsible for the new security licensing regime which became compulsory in Scotland in November 2007. 

Dunedin Associates offer the BIIAB National Certificate for Door Supervisors Scotland, a professional qualification which allows holders to apply for an SIA operators licence.  Holders of this licence are entitled to work in the licensed, static and patrol and retail security sectors.

National Certificate for Door Supervisors Scotland (NCDSS)

To get the SIA qualification for door supervisors, you will need to attend a two part training course and take and pass two exams. The course may be delivered over 4 days or during weekends and/or evening sessions. The total training time will always be 30 hours, which includes two hours of exams.

Training is delivered in two parts as follows:

Part 1 - Role and responsibilities of a door supervisor (14 hours)

Overall aim: To ensure that door supervisors have the knowledge and understanding of their role and responsibilities in the security industry environment.

• Aim: To discuss civil and criminal law relevant to door supervision.

• Arrest
• Drugs Awareness
• Recording Incidents and Crime Scene Preservation
• Licensing Law
• Equal Opportunities
• Discrimination Act and the Disability Discrimination Act
• Health and Safety at Work
• Emergency procedures

• State the importance of customer care
• Show an understanding of basic communication skills
• Show an understanding of verbal and non-verbal communication
• State the need to calm difficult situations and avoid violence
• Identify different types of behaviour
• State what risks can occur during violence at work
• Identify the most common conflict flash-points
• State the importance of managing aggression
• Show an understanding of basic problem-solving skills
• State the impact of reflecting and learning from the experience of conflict

Training may be delivered in-house at client premises, at a dedicated training centre near Edinburgh or at any suitable venue in accordance with client requirements.

COURSE DATES & FEES

We run the National Certificate for Door Supervisors Scotland (NCDSS) course regularly at our training centres in Edinburgh and Midlothian.  See our course dates page for details of our next course.

Candidates may do parts 1 and 2  of the course in any order they wish.

The NCDSS course fee per person is £200 inclusive of examination fees and course materials.
