HABC Award for Working as a CCTV Operator (Public Space Surveillance) within the Private Security Industry (Scotland) at SCQF Level 6
The qualification comprises the following two mandatory units of assessment: Safety Awareness for Door Supervisors and Physical Intervention Skills for the Private Security Industry.
This qualification is a regulatory requirement as specified by the Security Industry Authority (SIA) for Door Supervisors, therefore candidates must have a SIA Door Supervisors Licence. Candidates will be required to provide evidence of their SIA Licence either by providing their SIA Licence number or providing their SIA licence for inspection on the day of their training.
£140 inclusive of examination fees and course materials. Remember we accept ILA Scotland accounts for all of our courses!
In March 2012 the SIA announced the intention to require existing door supervisors who had achieved the pre-QCF Door Supervision qualifications (for example the National Certificate for Door Supervision) to undertake additional training in order to renew their licence.
HABC are one of the first Awarding Organisations to receive Ofqual approval to offer the Level 2 Award in Upskilling Door Supervisors qualification.
This qualification is for all existing door supervisors who have previously achieved the pre-SCQF Door Supervision qualifications (for example the National Certificate for Door Supervision (Scotland)) to undertake additional top up training in order to renew their SIA licence. If your Door Supervisor qualification was obtained prior to October 2010 you will need this 1 day top up training to renew your SIA Licence.
The Security Industry Authority has made mandatory recommendations that Physical Intervention training will become compulsory for all Door Supervisor’s across the UK. Anyone working in the private security industry as a door supervisor that will be renewing their license from March this year will need to take this additional module in order to obtain their new SIA Licence.
The Physical Intervention module is an SIA approved course which instructs candidates in non-harm escorting techniques applied to manage difficult situations without causing injury to themselves or members of the general public.
This new module is intended to provide candidates with a wider range of non-violent options for dealing with the most common scenarios involving physical contact in licensed premises. It does not offer a technique to cover every possible situation but provides a solid foundation in terms of knowledge and skills to further reduce risk to the customers and staff.
HABC are the largest awarding body in the U.K for the qualification which means that this certificate will be accepted by the SIA when you SIA Door Supervisors licence requires renewal. The course covers all aspects relating to workplace violence leading to use of force and Physical Intervention skills.
